Almshouses in Tring
Tring Charities is the administrator of 30 almshouses in Tring – 7 Bungalows at Ash Road, 20 at Westron Gardens and 2 flats and a house at Vestry Hall, Church Yard in the centre of the town. With the exception of Vestry Hall these properties are for occupation by beneficiaries over the age of 55. There are 22 one bedroom and 8 two bedroom properties in total.
Who Qualifies for Housing?
To qualify for housing you must live in or have close historic ties to Tring, Long Marston, Marsworth, Puttenham, Aldbury, Wiggington or Wilstone. Applicants (who must satisfy the age criteria for occupying one of the bungalows) must not own their own home or have a large amount of savings or other assets. The weekly maintenance contribution which residents are required to pay is approximately £120 for a one bedroom property and £140 for a two bedroom property. If you are unsure whether you qualify for housing please speak to the Secretary to the Trustees about your circumstances and she will be only too happy to help.
