Tring Charities
Dating back to the Elizabethan “Poor Laws” , Tring Charities’ chief responsibility is to provide benefits to the deserving poor in the ancient Parish of Tring and surrounding villages, including Long Marston, Wilstone, Puttenham, Marsworth, Pitstone, Aldbury and Wiggington.
Tring Charities is probably best known nowadays as the administrator of 30 alms houses in Tring – 7 bungalows at Ash Road, 20 bungalows at Westron Gardens and 2 flats and a house at The Vestry Hall, Church Yard. With the exception of The Vestry Hall, these properties are let to beneficiaries over the age of 55. There are 22 one bedroom and 8 two bedroom properties in total.
The Charity also manages allotments in Mortimer Hill and Long Marston and provides land for allotments in Wilstone.
